BEVERLY HILLS — The 10th annual Hollywood Black Film Festival begins June 2 with the opening night gala and screening of Giancarlo Esposito’s “Gospel Hill,” a story about a Black neighborhood in South Carolina that is faced with losing their homes to make way for a golf course development.

The film stars Samuel L. Jackson, Danny Glover, Angela Bassett, Julia Stiles, Taylor Kitsch, Adam Baldwin and Nia Long. A question and answer session will follow the screening. The screening takes place at the Fine Arts Theatre, 8556 Wilshire Blvd., in Beverly Hills. The film begins at 7 p.m.

After the opening program, an after-party/reception will be held in the Grand Lobby of the Wilshire Theatre, 8440 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles.

The six-day festival celebrates Black cinema by showcasing feature and short films, documentaries, student films, animated films and music videos.

Conferences, panels and workshops this year are taking place at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Beverly Hills through June 7.
