HOLLYWOOD — A wax figure of Michael Jackson was unveiled at Madame Tussauds Hollywood on Aug. 27, with an afternoon of activities to welcome the likeness of the late pop superstar.

A disc jockey played Jackson songs as part of the celebration, which also included a moonwalk demonstration and live performances.

The wax figure was unveiled at in the forecourt of the museum just west of Grauman's Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard, and 250 Madame Tussauds patrons were chosen to be the first to see it up close and pose for pictures with it.

The $300,000 figure was crafted in London and brought to Los Angeles "under heavy guard,'' according to publicists.
